Meet Leandra Roch'e
Leandra started doing hair professionally at 15 and has been licensed since 1995. In 2002 she founded A Joyous Look, a salon built for clients and for stylists who wanted a stable, professional career. Today that standard lives on as HD Hair Design (formerly A Joyous Look): healthy Black and natural hair care in Merrillville, trusted by clients from Crown Point, Hobart, Schererville, Highland and Gary.

Do you work with 4b and 4c hair?

Yes. HD Hair Design specializes in Black and textured hair, from 4a curls to tightly coiled 4c. Our stylists work with natural, relaxed, transitioning and loc'd hair, and every first visit starts with a consultation and a custom client profile.
Do you do silk presses on natural hair?

Yes. Silk press and thermal styling are core services at HD Hair Design. The goal is shine and movement without sacrificing your hair's long-term health, so your stylist will tailor the technique to your texture and condition.
Do you do loc retwists and loc maintenance?

Yes. We maintain locs the healthy way: regular salon visits for shampoo, conditioning and retwists, plus loc styling.
Can you help me transition from relaxed or color-treated hair to natural?

Yes. Transitioning is one of our specialties, from gradual grow-outs with treatments to a full big chop. Your stylist will build a plan around how you want to wear your hair along the way.
